Carrus (then called Career Step) was founded in 1992 by a stay-at-home parent who’d enrolled in a medical transcription correspondence course in hopes of expanding her career opportunities. When she realized the course’s potential to improve the lives of people like her, she decided to build a business that would make similar courses available to the masses.
In the decades since, Carrus has grown from a single medical transcription course to one of the nation’s most trusted online healthcare training and professional development providers. Carrus not only offers accredited training and continuing education to individual learners, it partners with colleges, universities, and healthcare employers across the country.
In 2019, with CEO Misty Frost at the helm, Carrus began offering two solutions to meet the distinct needs of future and current healthcare workers: CareerStep, a training platform for students seeking to enter and advance in the healthcare field, and CareerCert (formerly Medic-CE.com and ACLS.com), a continuing ed and certification-management platform for established medical professionals.
Carrus remains committed to helping people advance their careers and improve their lives as it strives to make the healthcare learning experience more accessible, efficient, and effective for everyone.
